Q: What is Acupuncture?

A: Acupuncture is part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine that treats patients with fine needles. These needles are inserted on specific locations of the body called points. 

 

Q: How does Acupuncture work?

A: With the needles inserted, your body is stimulated and starts the disease healing or re-balancing process to re-establish your body into a healthier state.

 

Q: Does acupuncture hurt?

A: You would feel just a little bit of sting, like flu shots or vaccination, but there would not be any damage.

 

Q: How long is the treatment?

A: The first treatment will take about an hour, includes a comprehensive history and exam.  The follow-up visits are about half an hour each.

                  

Q: What kind of clothing should I wear to the treatments?

A: Loose clothing will be great, or bring tank tops and shorts. 

    

Q: Are there restrictions or side effect with acupuncture?

A: You should continue with your medication, and it’s OK to have a light meal before the treatment. We will reschedule if you are under the influence of alcohol or chemicals, or right after a full meal or strenuous activities. After the treatment it is safe to driving home and resume daily activities.

 

Q: Does my medical insurance cover acupuncture treatment?

A: Certain insurance compines cover these treatments, but with a limited amout of coverage per year. However many compnies still don't not cover acupuncture office visits.
